Jacque Lyn Palomäki

Biography

Growing up near Chicago and living in the City of Parks has added greatly to my life experiences enjoying nature as I do. I married my husband right after graduating high school and began a career in craftsmanship which I continued for 25 years. While working with wood and furniture refinishing, I focused on details and developed an eye for color and texture. In 1987 we moved to Polk County and opened a family business of furniture repair. I then went into furniture sales. This gave me a new creative outlet and allowed me the freedom to design. After producing several hand painted pieces for customers, I wanted to get more serious about art, so enrolled in Acrylic Landscape painting classes at the Lake Wales Art Center with the Master, Tom Freeman. This was a life-changing experience for me. I fell in love with painting Florida. American Artist, Thomas Ancil Freeman encouraged me to  continue developing my skills and as a part of my continuing education he has taken me under his wing in his Atelier. He has been my inspiration and Mentor, sharing both his many years of art knowledge and his love for Florida itself with me. I am so very grateful and blessed to be able to study with such an honor.

As a member of the Frostproof Art League, and Lake Wales Art Center and also a member of the Ridge Plein Aire Painters I've had a chance to partake in local art shows. I have received ribbons for my work. I have also completed a large outdoor mural and a large outdoor painting under the direction of Tom Freeman. I have also been invited to exhibit in the Kissimmee River Valley Art Show at the Circle GB Bar Reserve in Lakeland.

My work is available as originals as well as prints and gicleés. I focus on realism and detail in my work with acrylics. My desire is to preserve and represent the beautiful elements of Florida's waterways, wilderness and wildlife as well as maintain the historic relevance of forests, buildings, structures and the people of the state of Florida. I want folks to feel an emotional connection and an appreciation for this beautiful place when they look at my paintings.

If in my painting I might have the pleasure of having the viewer stop and reflect and perhaps share the same emotions I had when I saw and painted the scene, I will feel that my work has been a success. I have brought the roses to them.

Artist Statement: Sharing the Roses

Taking the time to smell the roses is not always that easy. In our busy lives we miss out on so many of God's natural and unique gifts. I have had the pleasure of going places that are off the beaten path. That's when I get inspired to preserve what I've seen and transfer it to canvas. It's a way of bringing the beauty of Florida to others through my paintings. As a special feature that I include with my signature, is the GPS location, that way if a person desires to go to that specific place to experience and see it for themselves, they can.
