Peter R. Gerbert
|
Biography He attributes much of his inspiration to the amount of time he spends exploring the great outdoors, studying wildlife in natural surroundings while boating, hiking and camping in remote areas. He is very particular about all aspects of the subject's environment: including the time of year, the weather, animal relationships, insects, and plant life. A new painting begins with the research material that the artist has collected, and a very vivid imagination. Different designs are worked and reworked, until the artist achieves a composition that he believes will be remarkable. The actual painting is a layered process, working with thin layers of acrylics and building with thicker paint to achieve well-defined detail with depth and complimentary color. Each painting takes one to three months to complete. Since 1997,
the Florida Wildlife Federation has promoted Peter R. Gerbert as their
featured artist. |
